Victory Quilt: Moving Forward Finally

Lattice I started Victory Quilts in 2009. Yes, five years is a bit long for the UFO pile. My original plan was to use 18 blocks from the series and make the on-point version with a swag border. Since this results in a queen size quilt for which I have no recipient in mind, I decided to adjust my size to a lap and use the 12 blocks I have already completed. The swag border was designed for the on-point design so I have replaced it with the ribbon border. Towards that end, I’ve added the lattice sashing, ribbon border, and final background border.ribbon

I’ve stitched in the ditch between the 12-inch blocks and around the borders. I’m reserving the individual blocks until I decide how I will quilt each one. I finished up by basting stitch the outer edge of the quilt to prevent rippling and/or stretching. This is particularly important since I plan to heavily quilt the outer border.
