Graffiti Quilting by Karlee Porter

Karlee Porter was recently featured on Quilt It, a QNNTV.com show. After watching the show, I knew I had to buy Ms. Porter’s book, Graffiti Quilting: A Simple Guide to Complex Designs
. She takes you through basic shapes and how to build on them. Although I was already using many of the shapes, this book has opened my eyes to a new way to build on them.
I took a scrap of Moda Bella solid in basic black and sandwiched 2 layers of warm and natural batting for extra thickness. I used Superior’s Bottom Line, a 60 wt polyester thread, in off white and away I went. No planning…just doodling. When I got stuck, I echoed. When I was at a standstill, I turned to the basic shapes. Overall, it was a lot of fun and I can see doing this on my background fabrics in quilts.
