Killer Heat by Linda Fairstein
This is the 10th novel in the Alex Cooper series and is probably more enjoyable if you’ve read some of the previous novels in the series as character development is minimal in this book. I enjoyed Ms. Fairstein’s usual historical detail about sites around New York. She also managed to squeeze in a Final Jeopardy question or two while Alex dined on a favorite dish from one of Fairstein’s real time favorite restaurants. And, as always, Ms. Fairstein provides interesting detail about the history of sex crime prosecution providing the reader perspective on what sex crime victims face when their cases are prosecuted in our legal system.
But, it isn’t a “can’t put it down” kind of novel and I wish there had been more character development. I’m still devoted to the series but found the earlier novels more enjoyable.
