Time for a Change

The last two days of weather have been wonderful as a hint to Spring’s impending arrival. Unfortunately, today and tomorrow we’re doing a back slide into cold weather again with a chance of some more snow. But enough about weather. I only mention it as the last two days have resulted in a killer case of spring fever for me. I spent yesterday cleaning and my brain is still spinning with more cleaning projects…First on my list…the CAVE. Here’s a peak.

cave_4As you walk into my office/hobby room, there is a closet on the left. It contains my fabric stash and assorted items related to my hobbies. As you can sese, it’s over flowing and best kept closed.

Click to EnlargeNext to my first closet (door now thankfully closed) is my mother’s hope chest. I used to keep my fabric stash in it but only had room for about half of it. So now it contains office supplies.

What you can’t see is the bags of batting surrounding the fig tree. Those suckers took up too much room in the closet so now surround the base of that poor tree…not my finest decorating tip. The iron board is supposed to be a temporary fixture. Unfortunately, it’s up more than it’s not as I’m working on four quilts at the same time.

Click to EnlargeNext to the fig tree is my desk, AKA the monster. I love this desk. But as you can see, it takes up a bit of space and I’m not very good at keeping it looking sleek and clean. I honestly don’t want to part with it but its size and shape severely limit how I can arrange this room. So Ron and I have been debating (for months now) the best way to make this room a little more functional (and eye appealing). That means the desk has to go (tear up).

Behind the desk is a second closet. This one contains my four-drawer filing cabinet and other miscellaneous job related stuff.

My favorite cordless mouse quit on me and I was trying to make do until the replacement micro receiver arrived. The monitor is actually hooked up to two CPUs…my personal computer and my work computer. The mess in front of it is related to both…

Click to EnlargeContinuing around the room, we have my bookcase (only place for my poor television). The bottom is full of quilting books. The basket tower next to it contains fabric and batting scraps in no particular order. Needs some work. Poor Navajo Nation sits at the top waiting for a turn at the sewing machine.

Sigh…the cave needs some work and will in all likelyhood kill my case of spring fever.
