The Jane Stickle Quilt – Block J3
I haven’t lost my determination to conquer curved piecing. This is only the third block where I’m comfortable enough with the result of my efforts to include it in the quilt. I’m still waiting for curved seams to become as easy as insets. Appliqué is a good backup option for those who wish to avoid the curves. Once the curved section is done, assembling the rest of the block is quick.

Note: Unit A and Unit B in the pattern are for the sashing. I chose to make 5-inch blocks like the original rather than sash 4½-inch blocks. If you prefer to add your sashing when your blocks are all finished, just eliminate the A and B units from my pattern. The center sections will then be 4½ inches finished in size and you can add your sashing later.
