Carpenter Star

Well I didn’t think I would make it, but I finished this baby n time for Christmas. Wrinkles are the result of king size quilt in extra large (but still not large enough) capacity dryer. They should fall out after laying on bed for a few days. This is my first and last king…unless I win a longarm…ha!

  1. Did you do this with fat quarters? I’m working on one that I started in a quilting class and we were only doing a lap size, but I fell in love with it, so I’m increasing to king. Just don’t know how many more rows I want to do. I have the king pattern, but I’m thinking about just adding two more rows (ending with the two solid blocks in each corner) and then doing borders. Yours is gorgeous. Love all the colors. I used just a light, medium and dark color in mine.

    1. I’ve actually made two different king carpenter stars. For the one above I used yardage. For the second one, I used fat quarters. This is such a versatile pattern. I’ve also seen done with two alternating foreground fabrics and one background fabric. However it’s done it always looks marvelous…it’s an excellent stash buster pattern. 🙂
