Here are some of my “finished” projects.
Blue Bayou
I thought it would be fun to design and assemble a sampler quilt while crocheting a matching afghan. I chose simple traditional blocks so that I wouldn’t be too challenged with designing the matching pattern for the crocheted afghan.

Sudoku Wall Hanging
I finally got around to doing a Sudoku quilt, which has been on my list for a couple of years. This wall hanging is a finished size of 24 x 24 and is roughly based on McCall’s Quick Quilts version. I reduced the size, spiffed up the sashing, and increased the proportion of the border.

Kaleidoscope Star
This pattern was first offered to AllOurQuilts.com members by Susan Parisi. We used fussy cutting to match patterns for the center box of the star.

Blue Lagoon
My first original quilt design. A quilt-as-you go approach.
I am experimenting with my own layout design here. Army Star, Is the block used.I used the quilt-as-you-go-approach. I started in the center and worked rounds out.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/blue-lagoon/thumbs/thumbs_img_0752.jpg]Blue Lagoon – Completed April 2008

Buckeye Beauty
When Softball Saga was driving me nuts, I'd switch to this quilt as therapy.
This was one of my favorite projects. Buckeye Beauty, is the block I used to make this quilt.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/buckeye-beauty/thumbs/thumbs_img_0673.jpg]Buckeye Beauty – Completed Aug 2006
And, ironically, it’s the name of the person we gave this to for Christmas. I wish I had taken more pictures but I was working on this one and Softball Saga at the same time.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/buckeye-beauty/thumbs/thumbs_img_0677.jpg]Buckeye Beauty – Completed Aug 2006
This project was therapy when I got frustrated with the Softball Saga.
Softball Saga
This quilt is made from softball team shirts for my niece's high school graduation.
My niece graduated from high school in 2007. From grade school through high school she has pitched on various softball teams.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/softball-saga/thumbs/thumbs_img_0632.jpg]Softball Saga – Completed April 2007
Her mother wanted to have a memory quilt made using her game shirts.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/softball-saga/thumbs/thumbs_img_0634.jpg]Softball Saga – Completed April 2007
During this process I learned T-shirt fabric, even with stiffener is not easy to quilt.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/softball-saga/thumbs/thumbs_img_0637.jpg]Softball Saga – Completed April 2007
Half way there[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/softball-saga/thumbs/thumbs_img_0638.jpg]Softball Saga – Completed April 2007
I decided to make and quilt the individual squares, then piece it all together.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/softball-saga/thumbs/thumbs_img_0640.jpg]Softball Saga – Completed April 2007

Sunny very seriously wanting to lay on it.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/softball-saga/thumbs/thumbs_img_0659.jpg]Softball Saga – Completed April 2007
I decided a very simple border was needed. I wanted to blend all the different fabric colors but not detract from the individual squares. I ended up choosing the blue over the red fabric.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/softball-saga/thumbs/thumbs_img_0735.jpg]Softball Saga – Completed April 2007
Finally..it’s done! Stacy acting as my quality control inspector.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/softball-saga/thumbs/thumbs_img_0736.jpg]Softball Saga – Completed April 2007

Sunny Spot
This quilt is based on a free pattern I got while stash shopping at Hancock Fabrics.
Sunny knows what he likes…and he DOES enjoy this part of the process![img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/sunny-spot/thumbs/thumbs_img_0552.jpg]Sunny Spot – Completed May 2006
I’m now getting pretty good at matching seams, but my quilting still needs work.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/sunny-spot/thumbs/thumbs_img_0553.jpg]Sunny Spot – Completed May 2006

I Love America
I fell in love with this pattern when I first saw in at http://www.mccallsquilting.com/content_downloads/i_love_america_pp101_patternpdf.pdf
Sunny supervising the assembly process.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/i-love-america/thumbs/thumbs_img_0542.jpg]I Love America – Completed Mar 2006
So, what is next? Applique. I Love America, from McCall’s Quilting caught my eye and away I went.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/i-love-america/thumbs/thumbs_img_0539.jpg]I Love America – Completed Mar 2006
And yes, I made every mistake you can make in that arena as well.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/i-love-america/thumbs/thumbs_img_0540.jpg]I Love America – Completed Mar 2006
An interesting choice of colors to be sure[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/i-love-america/thumbs/thumbs_img_0543.jpg]I Love America – Completed Mar 2006
Some of my quilting detail…I traced heart patterns onto the fabric[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/i-love-america/thumbs/thumbs_img_0544.jpg]I Love America – Completed Mar 2006
Lots of stipple quilting on this one…helped the hearts pop out
Five-Strip Fence Rail
I decided to try doing a variation of the same pattern I used with Basket Weave.
This quilting process is hard work!![img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/sunny-spot-2/thumbs/thumbs_img_0527.jpg]Five-Strip Fence Rail – Completed May 2006
Sunny is hoping I’ll take a little longer to finish this one. I was so frustrated with the quality of my first quilt, I used same pattern with different fabric.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/sunny-spot-2/thumbs/thumbs_img_0547.jpg]Five-Strip Fence Rail – Completed May 2006
I used 5 fabrics this time instead of 3. Practice makes perfect?? I did a better job matching seams and the light backing fabric helped when I started quilting[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/sunny-spot-2/thumbs/thumbs_img_0549.jpg]Five-Strip Fence Rail – Completed May 2006
I also used a different quilting pattern with clear top thread instead of white[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/sunny-spot-2/thumbs/thumbs_img_0548.jpg]Five-Strip Fence Rail – Completed May 2006
I made this one large enough to fit a twin bed and experimented with 100% cotton batting vs the polyester. I decided I much preferred the cotton.
Basket Weave
My First Quilt
I started my very first quilt using a basket weave design. It was supposedly simple to put together. The majority of the seems didn’t line up and I used a dark colored backing with light colored thread. Ooops…every crooked stitch shows.[img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/sunny-spot-1/thumbs/thumbs_img_0505.jpg]Basket Weave – Completed December 2005
I did however learn that LOTS of quilting hides the flaws if you don’t dig too deep. This baby definitely won’t fall apart![img src=http://hobbystash.com/wp-content/flagallery/sunny-spot-1/thumbs/thumbs_img_0490.jpg]Basket Weave – Completed December 2005
As you can see, Sunny was an integral part of this process. I lost him to kidney disease in November 2009 and still miss him. He’ll be popping in on quite a few of my quilts.
