A Year of Christmas – November

Tipsy Triangles ChristmasWhen I first saw Jenny Doan’s The Falling Triangles Quilt: Easy Quilting with Layer Cakes!  on YouTube, I fell in love with the pattern. I love the effect of floating squares. But she makes her half square triangles in such a way that the outer edges end up being bias edges. Having tried this with her Disappearing Hour Glass pattern, I knew I did not want to wrestle with stretching issues again. I also wanted to decrease the size of the quilt to a throw. The pattern redesign makes HST blocks the traditional way and only needs 6 fat quarters. I increased it to 8 for more of a scrappy effect. The actual quilt image features even more as I was using up numerous left over red and green fabrics from my previous Christmas quilt projects. You can use whatever combination you like to come up with 72 HST blocks.
