Victory Quilt: Army Star

I enjoyed making this block using Eleanor Burns’ technique. Army Star is also featured in my Blue Lagoon quilt…interesting how different fabric choices can change the look.

Victory Quilt: Sky Rocket

This the fifth block I’ve made for the Victory Quilt and is covered in the fourth video of Eleanor Burns’ Victory Quilt series. I have to say that, so far, it is my favorite! It’s a bit harder than the previous squares, but Eleanor’s instructions are excellent both in the book and in the video…

Victory Quilt: Silent Star

The third video in Eleanor Burns’ Victory Quilt series covers two blocks: Silent Star and Comfort Quilt. Because I am doing this quilt on point, I will be using 18 of the 20 blocks Eleanor provides in the book. So I’ve decided not to make  the Comfort Quilt block at this point. I may reconsider later. Here’s Silent Star…

Victory Quilt – 1941 Nine Patch

My template tool for this square arrived and I’m finally ready to start. I’ve decided to follow along doing the blocks in the same order as Eleanor Burn’s video series and I will be using her color scheme for the quilt. Her first video covers the 1941 Nine Patch. The instructions in the book are also excellent and Eleanor also provides instructions for the flying geese using a regular template (vs. her specialized flying geese ruler). I wanted to try out her technique and have to say it’s excellent. Her procedure creates 4 flying geese star points at the same time and they come out perfect. Here’s my first square.
