I finished it off by making a window treatment to coordinate with this gorgeous quilt.

My sister-in-law, Lorraine turned me on to quilting. She made us this gorgeous king-sized quilt for our guest bedroom.

Blue Bayou

I thought it would be fun to design and assemble a sampler quilt while crocheting a matching afghan. I chose simple traditional blocks so that I wouldn’t be too challenged with designing the matching pattern for the crocheted afghan.

Sudoku Wall Hanging

I finally got around to doing a Sudoku quilt, which has been on my list for a couple of years. This wall hanging is a finished size of 24 x 24 and is roughly based on McCall’s Quick Quilts version. I reduced the size, spiffed up the sashing, and increased the proportion of the border.

I decided a very simple border was needed. I wanted to blend all the different fabric colors but not detract from the individual squares. I made this one large enough to fit a twin bed and experimented with 100% cotton batting vs the polyester. I decided I much preferred the cotton.

Basket Weave

My First Quilt

I started my very first quilt using a basket weave design. It was supposedly simple to put together. The majority of the seems didn’t line up and I used a dark colored backing with light colored thread. As you can see, Sunny was an integral part of this process. I lost him to kidney disease in November 2009 and still miss him. He’ll be popping in on quite a few of my quilts.
